The story of the piece
Christian Dior
Dior2 floral pattern cotton blazer with CD embroidery
Christian Dior is one of the most legendary names in fashion history. Born in France in 1905, Dior founded his fashion house in 1946 in Paris, with the financial support of industrialist Marcel Boussac. The following year, in 1947, he presented his first collection, titled Corolle, which revolutionized the fashion world with the famous “New Look”.
The New Look was characterized by rounded shoulders, cinched busts, slender waists, and full skirts, enhancing femininity in a luxurious and opulent way. It was an enormous international success, marking the rebirth of French fashion after the Second World War. Dior immediately became a design icon, dressing film stars, princesses, and high-society women.
Dior2 floral pattern cotton blazer with CD embroidery During the 1950s, the maison expanded worldwide, opening boutiques and launching iconic fragrances such as Miss Dior. Christian Dior was a genius of marketing and global vision, among the first to understand the importance of branding and licensing in the fashion world.
Upon his premature death in 1957, at only 52 years old, the creative direction passed to a young Yves Saint Laurent, who continued the maison's success. Since then, many renowned designers have led Dior, including Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and, more recently, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first woman to hold the role.
Today, Dior is part of the LVMH group and is a global symbol of elegance, luxury, and innovation. The house continues to reinterpret its founder's classic codes, with collections that blend tradition and modernity. Christian Dior is not just a brand, but a fundamental chapter in the fashion history of the 20th and 21st centuries.
