The story of the piece
Christian Dior
Dior Club 2 acetate sunglasses
The history of Dior is one of the most influential and revolutionary in twentieth-century fashion. The maison was founded in 1946 in Paris by the designer Christian Dior, in an Europe still marked by the Second World War. From the very beginning, Dior dreamed of restoring beauty, femininity, and optimism through fashion.
On February 12, 1947, the first collection was presented, which went down in history as the New Look. Soft silhouettes, cinched waists, rounded shoulders, and full skirts broke away from wartime austerity to celebrate a new idea of feminine elegance. Success was immediate and international: Dior became the symbol of the rebirth of French haute couture and brought Paris back to the center of the global fashion system.
In the following years, the maison expanded rapidly, launching iconic fragrances such as Miss Dior and developing accessories, footwear, and prêt-à-porter lines. Upon the sudden death of Christian Dior in 1957, creative direction passed to the young Yves Saint Laurent, who kept the house's legacy alive with a more modern style. In the years that followed, creative directors who reinterpreted the Dior DNA alternated, including Marc Bohan and John Galliano, the latter known for his theatrical and spectacular vision.
In the 21st century, Dior continues to evolve, combining tradition and innovation. The maison strengthens its bond with craftsmanship, art, and contemporary culture, maintaining a strong aesthetic identity. Today, Dior is synonymous with timeless luxury, refined elegance, and visionary creativity. From an idea born in the post-war era, the maison has become a global pillar of fashion, capable of influencing generations and reinventing itself while remaining faithful to its founder's dream.
