The story of the piece

Chanel

Chanel logo patent ankle boots

The history of Chanel is an extraordinary journey that transformed women's fashion, revolutionizing the concept of elegance. Founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in 1910 in Paris, the maison began as a small hat shop at 21 Rue Cambon. Coco, with her rebellious spirit, challenged the fashion conventions of the time, introducing an aesthetic based on simplicity, practicality, and sophistication.

She abolished corsets and used fabrics like jersey, usually reserved for menswear, to create comfortable and elegant garments. Among her most iconic creations is the “little black dress”, launched in 1926 and celebrated as a symbol of sobriety and timeless chic. Chanel N°5, launched in 1921, became the most famous perfume in the world, an innovation that took the maison beyond the boundaries of fashion.

In the 1950s, Chanel returned to the scene after a hiatus during the Second World War, introducing the famous tweed suit, characterized by clean and practical lines, which embodied modern and independent femininity. Upon her death in 1971, the brand lost momentum, but its rebirth came with Karl Lagerfeld, appointed creative director in 1983. Lagerfeld modernized the Chanel aesthetic, maintaining the brand's distinctive codes, such as the matelassé pattern and gold chains, but reinterpreting them with boldness.

Today, Chanel is a global symbol of luxury and innovation, ranging from fashion to beauty and accessories. With a legacy based on audacity and timeless elegance, it continues to inspire generations, embodying the revolutionary vision of Coco Chanel.
