The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel acetate and engraved metal shield sunglasses
The history of Chanel is one of the most influential in the world of fashion and luxury. The maison was founded in 1910 in Paris by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, who began her business with a hat boutique. Soon, her innovative style revolutionized women's clothing, offering essential, elegant, and comfortable pieces in an era dominated by corsets and elaborate dresses.
In the 1920s, Coco Chanel introduced creations destined to become iconic, such as the famous “little black dress,” a symbol of timeless elegance. In 1921, she also launched the Chanel No. 5 perfume, still considered one of the most famous and best-selling fragrances in the world. Her vision was based on the idea that fashion should offer freedom of movement and enhance a woman's personality, rather than limit it.
After a hiatus during the Second World War, Coco Chanel returned to the scene in 1954, presenting the famous tweed suit, characterized by clean lines and refined details. In 1955, she created the Chanel 2.55 bag, recognizable by its chain strap, which became one of the maison's symbols.
Following the founder's death in 1971, Chanel continued to evolve while maintaining its identity. From 1983 to 2019, the creative direction was entrusted to Karl Lagerfeld, who reinterpreted the brand's historical codes with a contemporary style, contributing to strengthening its international prestige. Today, the fashion creative direction is led by Matthieu Blazy, called upon to continue the maison's tradition with an innovative vision.
