The story of the piece
Blumarine
Blumarine viscose cardigan with mink collar
The Blumarine brand was founded in 1977 in Carpi, Emilia-Romagna, by designer Anna Molinari and her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini. The brand name derives from the couple's love for the sea and the color blue, symbols of elegance and femininity.
From its inception, Blumarine has been distinguished by a romantic, sensual, and sophisticated style, characterized by fluid fabrics, floral details, and a strong focus on the feminine silhouette. In the '80s, the maison quickly conquered the Italian and international markets, presenting collections that celebrated a sweet yet decisive femininity, far from the more rigid trends of the period.
During the '90s, Blumarine experienced its peak success, becoming a benchmark for a glamourous and seductive aesthetic. Advertising campaigns, often entrusted to internationally renowned photographers, helped build an iconic and recognizable image. Parallel lines such as Blugirl, designed for a younger audience, were also launched.
The brand is distinguished by its use of precious materials, furs, embroideries, and applications, as well as a delicate palette enriched by bold touches. Anna Molinari's vision is often described as "the queen of roses," due to the frequent use of floral motifs in the collections.
In subsequent years, Blumarine underwent creative and strategic changes, while maintaining its identity rooted in romantic and contemporary femininity. Today, the brand continues to evolve, reinterpreting its historical codes in a modern way, remaining a symbol of elegant and sensual Italian style.
