The story of the piece

Stuart Weitzman

Stuart Weitzman suede leather boots

Stuart Weitzman is a luxury footwear brand founded by the eponymous designer, renowned for innovative design and the use of precious and unusual materials. The brand's history began in the 1950s, when Stuart's father, Seymour Weitzman, founded the Seymour Shoes company in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Stuart joined the family business in the 1960s, demonstrating a natural talent for design and innovation from the very beginning.

In 1972, following his father's death, Stuart and his brother Warren took control of the company. However, shortly after, they sold it to a Spanish entrepreneur, while remaining involved in the creative direction. Stuart continued to design shoes for the company even after the sale, consolidating his role as a key designer. In the 1980s, Weitzman managed to repurchase the brand that bore his name and transformed it into a global icon.

The brand's distinctive hallmark is the use of unusual materials such as gold, cork, vinyl, and even diamonds and precious stones. Weitzman has designed extremely exclusive footwear, such as the famous "Million Dollar Shoes," worn by stars on the Oscar red carpet. These creations have helped strengthen the brand's image as a symbol of luxury and elegance.

Over the years, Stuart Weitzman has built a footwear empire, with stores worldwide and a strong following among celebrities and fashion enthusiasts. In 2015, he sold the company to the luxury group Coach, Inc. (now Tapestry, Inc.), while maintaining a consulting role for several years.

Today, Stuart Weitzman is synonymous with elegant and sophisticated footwear, celebrated for comfort, artisanal quality, and distinctive design, continuing to influence the global fashion landscape.
