It is an Italian fashion brand founded in 1953 by Ottavio (“Tai”) Missoni and his wife Rosita Jelmini in Gallarate, Lombardy. The brand became famous for its unmistakable knitwear characterized by geometric, zigzag, striped patterns, and vibrant colors. The history of Missoni began when Tai, a former Olympic athlete, and Rosita decided to combine their respective expertise in the fashion and textile worlds, creating a small family-run clothing line. Their first collections were made on domestic looms, and they soon captured attention for their innovative approach to knitwear.
