The story of the piece
Hermès
Hermès leather Chypre sandals
Hermès is one of the most iconic luxury maisons in the world, founded in 1837 in Paris by Thierry Hermès as a workshop specializing in horse harnesses. Initially, the brand served the European elite with saddles, bridles, and equestrian accessories, renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship.
Hermès leather Chypre sandals Over the years, the Hermès family has successfully evolved with the times. Under the leadership of grandson Émile-Maurice Hermès, the company introduced new products such as bags, luggage, and gloves, always maintaining the highest quality standards. In the 1920s, Hermès was the first in France to use the zipper, launching its first zip bag.
In the 1930s, two of the maison's most legendary products were born: the Kelly bag (made famous by Grace Kelly) and the silk tie. In 1937, the first silk carré was also launched, becoming a universal symbol of elegance.
In the 1950s and '60s, Hermès consolidated its status as an elite brand. However, it was in the 1980s that the maison experienced an extraordinary revival thanks to Jean-Louis Dumas, who introduced the famous Birkin bag, created in collaboration with actress Jane Birkin.
Today, Hermès continues to be a family-run company, famous for its refined craftsmanship, limited production, and meticulous attention to detail. Every item, from bags to foulards, from watches to prêt-à-porter fashion, reflects a heritage of tradition, innovation, and understated luxury.
Hermès remains faithful to the maison's motto: “le bel ouvrage” (beautiful workmanship), representing even today the perfect blend of craftsmanship, elegance, and exclusivity.
