The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci Blazer Garden in floral jacquard wool blend and crystals
The history of Gucci began in Florence in 1921, when Guccio Gucci founded a small workshop for leather goods and travel items. Inspired by the elegance of the clients at the luxury hotels where he worked in London and Paris, Guccio decided to create refined products that combined Tuscan craftsmanship with international taste. From its early days, the brand has stood out for the quality of its materials and its sophisticated style.
During the 1930s and 1940s, Gucci consolidated its identity, introducing iconic symbols such as the diamond pattern and the use of bamboo for handbag handles, born during the restrictions of the Second World War. The famous horsebit and the green-red-green ribbon, inspired by the equestrian world, became distinctive elements of the maison.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Gucci experienced strong international expansion, opening boutiques in New York, London, and Paris. The brand became synonymous with luxury and glamour, chosen by celebrities and style icons. However, in the 1980s, family tensions and complex management led to a period of crisis.
The rebirth arrived in the 1990s under the creative direction of Tom Ford, who relaunched Gucci with a bold, sensual, and contemporary image. Subsequently, under the leadership of Frida Giannini and then Alessandro Michele, the brand evolved further, blending tradition and experimentation.
Today Gucci is part of the Kering group and is one of the most influential brands in global fashion. The maison continues to reinterpret its historical codes with creativity, maintaining a strong connection to its Italian roots.
