Christian Dior pumps. In 1937, Dior began working as a designer for Robert Piguet, refining his skills until joining the maison Lucien Lelong during the Second World War. There, he met Pierre Balmain and other designers who would shape post-war fashion.

1947 marked a decisive turning point in Dior's career with the launch of his first collection, the "New Look". This collection revolutionized the fashion of the time with its feminine silhouettes, full skirts, and cinched waists, in stark contrast to the austere style of the war period. The "New Look" relaunched Paris as the fashion capital and consolidated Dior's reputation worldwide.

In the following years, Dior expanded his business by introducing accessories, perfumes (such as the famous "Miss Dior" from 1947), and opening international boutiques. His vision of fashion profoundly influenced the 1950s, helping to define the style of the era.

Unfortunately, Dior's career was short: he died suddenly in 1957. However, the maison continued to thrive under the direction of the young Yves Saint Laurent, who had started as Dior's assistant. Saint Laurent, followed by other prominent designers such as Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri, helped to keep the Dior legacy alive.
