The story of the piece
Cartier
Cartier Aviator sunglasses
Cartier is a prestigious jewellery and watchmaking maison founded in 1847 in Paris by Louis-François Cartier. The history of Cartier begins when Louis-François takes over the workshop of his master, Adolphe Picard, in the Montorgueil district. The brand's reputation grows rapidly thanks to the quality and innovation of its jewellery, attracting an aristocratic and royal clientele.

Louis Cartier, known for his creative talent, introduced numerous iconic designs and technical innovations. In 1904, he created the first wristwatch for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, marking the beginning of the Santos collection.
In the 1920s, Cartier established itself as a synonym for elegance and luxury, with the famous Tank watch, inspired by the tanks of World War I. Louis, Pierre, and Jacques expanded the company by opening boutiques in London and New York, consolidating the brand's international presence. Their ability to combine precious materials and advanced techniques led to the creation of legendary pieces such as the Love bracelet and the Panthère collection.
Cartier is also known for its long history of collaborations with high society and celebrities. The brand has created jewellery for many royal houses, including the Indian Maharajas and the British Royal Family. In the 1950s, Princess Grace of Monaco wore a set of Cartier jewellery for her wedding, further strengthening the brand's prestige.
In recent years, Cartier has continued to innovate and maintain its status as a leader in the luxury sector, thanks to contemporary collections and reinterpretations of its timeless classics. Today, Cartier is part of the Richemont group and operates with boutiques worldwide, offering a wide range of jewellery, watches, and accessories that represent the pinnacle of elegance and craftsmanship.
In short, Cartier is a brand that has successfully combined tradition and innovation, creating pieces that not only adorn, but tell stories of luxury, refinement, and distinction.
