MET Gala 2024: The stars' vintage looks

Discover which stars chose to wear vintage pieces from the finest designers for the 2024 edition of the MET Gala.

The highly anticipated MET Gala took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

This year, looks were inspired by the theme “The Garden of Time” and were meant to align with the Costume Institute exhibition, Sleeping Beauties – Reawakening Fashion. The stars' outfits certainly did not disappoint: ethereal fabrics, precious embroidery, flowers, and above all, many vintage and archival looks. Discover which stars chose to wear vintage pieces from the finest designers for the 2024 edition of the MET Gala.

Zendaya

The actress, now world-famous for her spectacular and always “on point” looks, did not disappoint this time either. As co-host of the evening, she was able to showcase two looks, choosing vintage for both.

First, she wore a custom Margiela dress inspired by a John Galliano design for Christian Dior Couture 1999.

Then Zendaya stole the scene wearing a Givenchy dress from Spring 1996 designed by Galliano, paired with a headpiece that is a true work of art by Phillip Tracy, designed for Alexander McQueen Spring 2007.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman also opted for vintage, wearing a dress inspired by Balenciaga's 1950 archive. A rigid bustier framing a light, ethereal tulle skirt: all the most recognizable hallmarks of the Basque designer.

Kendall Jenner

Stunning on the red carpet in a Givenchy dress designed by Alexander McQueen in 1999, she also chose vintage for the after-party: a white dress reminiscent of swan plumage, also Givenchy by Alexander McQueen, Spring 1997.

Lana del Rey

Singer Lana del Rey wore Sean McGirr's version of an iconic Alexander McQueen dress from the Fall/Winter 2006/2007 collection. While somewhat different from the original and inimitable, it is certainly a high-impact look.

Emily Ratajkowski

To conclude our showcase of stars who chose vintage for the MET Gala 2024, Emily Ratajkowski was a must: the star opted for a sheer Atelier Versace dress from Fall/Winter 2001/2002. A design that leaves little to the imagination, but which the model wears divinely.
