International success arrived in 1962, when Valentino presented his collection at the Pitti Palace in Florence, receiving unanimous acclaim from critics and the public alike. In the 1960s, Valentino became the preferred designer for many celebrities and prominent figures, including Jacqueline Kennedy, who wore a Valentino gown for her wedding to Aristotle Onassis.

Throughout the 1970s and '80s, Valentino continued to expand his empire, opening boutiques worldwide and launching new lines, including accessories and fragrances. His ability to combine tradition and innovation kept him relevant in the ever-changing fashion landscape.

In 1998, Valentino sold his fashion maison to the Holding di Tessile group (later acquired by Marzotto). Despite this, he remained as creative director until his official retirement in 2008. His final runway show, held in Paris, was a memorable event that celebrated his extraordinary career.
