The story of the piece

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs denim and suede zip jacket

Marc Jacobs is one of the most influential American designers in contemporary fashion. Born on April 9, 1963, in New York, he developed a great passion for design and clothing from a young age. After a difficult childhood, marked by the loss of his father and frequent family changes, he found in fashion a way to express his creativity. He studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design, where he stood out for his talent, winning numerous awards as top student.

In 1986, he launched his first collection under the Marc Jacobs brand, immediately gaining critical attention thanks to his innovative and unconventional style. The real turning point came in 1992 with the famous Grunge collection created for Perry Ellis. Although initially criticized and resulting in his dismissal, that collection was later recognized as one of the most influential in the fashion history of the nineties.

In 1997, Marc Jacobs was appointed creative director of Louis Vuitton, where he remained until 2013. During this period, he transformed the French maison by introducing the first prêt-à-porter line and collaborating with internationally renowned artists such as Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami, and Yayoi Kusama. These collaborations helped make Louis Vuitton one of the most modern and coveted luxury brands in the world.

At the same time, he continued to develop his own brand, expanding it with collections of clothing, bags, footwear, accessories, perfumes, and jewelry. His creations are appreciated for their originality, attention to detail, and ability to reinterpret trends without losing elegance and personality.
