The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci Small Dionysus Blooms print leather shoulder bag
Gucci is one of the most prestigious and recognizable maison in the world, a symbol of Made in Italy excellence. Founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci, the company began as a small workshop specializing in the production of high-quality travel goods, luggage, and leather accessories. The experience Guccio Gucci gained observing the refined taste of international clientele while working in luxury London hotels profoundly influenced his entrepreneurial vision.
In the 1930s and 40s, Gucci established itself as a benchmark for the Italian aristocracy and upper bourgeoisie. During the period of wartime restrictions, the maison demonstrated great innovative capacity by introducing alternative materials such as bamboo, which led to the creation of the famous Bamboo Bag, still one of the brand's most iconic models today.
In the post-war period, under the leadership of Guccio Gucci's sons, the company began a rapid international expansion. In the 1950s and 60s, boutiques were opened in major fashion capitals and strategic cities such as New York, transforming Gucci into a global symbol of elegance and prestige. During this period, some of the maison's distinctive codes were also born, such as the horsebit and the green-red-green web inspired by the equestrian world.
After a complex phase characterized by family tensions and corporate changes, Gucci regained momentum in the 1990s thanks to the creative direction of Tom Ford, who renewed the brand's image with a sensual and contemporary style. Subsequently, designers such as Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele contributed to strengthening its international success through new interpretations of the Gucci identity.
