Maison Margiela
He is the father of sartorial deconstruction and the creator of the white label, as well as the most mysterious maison of all time.
In 1988, Martin Margiela founded his Maison, Maison Martin Margiela in Paris, making his debut with the first Spring/Summer 1989 collection. The creations of Martin Margiela's collections have been described as works of “meta-fashion”. He is the father of the sartorial deconstruction technique: deconstructing garments means cutting and reassembling parts of old clothes, showcasing linings and internal components, and detaching and reassembling patterns in new ways. Many define Margiela's fashion as a crossover attitude between minimalism and punk, building essential silhouettes that meet the use of bricolage techniques: patchwork and the decontextualization of materials and objects that take on new meanings, becoming unexpected garments, accessories, or jewelry.
