Etro
Founded in Milan in 1968 as a textile company, Etro is a historic luxury prêt-à-porter maison that has brought back the popularity of Indian prints, inspired by English antiques and ancient history. With a brilliant and innovative approach, the company has continued to expand its journey beyond fashion over time. Today, the paisley motif can be found in home decor collections, as well as scarves and ties. The cashmere-patterned fabric is thus a signature: through a special fixing method, it can also be applied to suitcases, bags, and duffels.
Paisley immediately became a distinctive feature of the brand's production. It is a stylistic design with various thematic variations. It is obtained by depicting the boteh, or buta, a plant-based teardrop-shaped motif of Persian origin. A trip to India by the founder served as the main inspiration for introducing the paisley motif into the collections. The company is still headquartered in Milan, accompanied by a highly significant textile art archive, a precious reference for the maison, especially for the patterns it employs.
